How it all started

For more than 40 years I am writing songs. Most of them are played by my bands. My fellow musicians simply refuse to play covers with me :-)

Around 2010 I started writing new songs inspired by some great lyrics of Otteline. I wrote about six songs with her. Living close to Mother Nature on great spots with my recording stuff, the writing was going well. Friends  told me not to keep this for myself and bring it to the world. Easier said than done. My goal was? I need an amazing female rock voice. Let's try Facebook and after a few days someone suggested Wieke. She’s living nearby. Her voice is amazing and inspiring.

Inviting the best musicians and friends to complete the album in the best studio’s available. It was a journey and it goes on.

The making of....

Recording started in my home studio on a Roland VS2480 a digital 24 track (I have two of them). Amazing sounding. We recorded all the vocals, violin, saxophone, the guitar stuff of Will and some of my own guitar sounds. Thanx to Eddy Mulder giving a hand on Lonesome.

Exporting the songs to the Key studio in Akkrum on Protools. In this studio we recorded Hammond organ, Grand piano, Some bassguitar and my heavy and acoustic guitar. Thanks to Rogier and Marc for their presence. Both guys play guitar so it’s easy talking. The recording of Hammond, Grand piano, drums, some bass was done by Michiel Hoogenboezem.

From Key studio we went to the Power Sound studio in Amsterdam. In my opinion the best mixing studio. I know Paul for many years but we never worked together untill now. It was a blessing. Paul did all the pre-mixes. For the final mixes Paul and I worked together with support of Wieke. A wonderful team.

Then we went to the Mastering Studio of Darius in Amsterdam. We worked together some years ago so I know were to go. Mastering is done for CD… LP and download facilities.
